I. General

Name: Seamus Fintan Finnigan
Name Meanings: Seamus- Irish form of James meaning English form of the Late Latin Jacomus which was derived from Ιακωβος (Iakobos), the New Testament Greek form of יַעֲקֹב (Ya'aqov). This is the name of two apostles in the New Testament. The first was Saint James the Greater, the apostle John's brother, who was beheaded by Herod Agrippa in the Book of Acts. The second was James the Lesser, son of Alphaeus. Another James (known as James the Just) is also mentioned in the Bible as being the brother of Jesus.

Fintan-Anglicized form of the Gaelic name Fionntán, which possibly means either "white fire" or "white bull" in Gaelic. This was the name of many Irish saints.

Preffered Language: Irish Gaelic but considering not many people at Hogwarts speek it, he uses English outside out of his house.
Voice/Manner of speaking: His voice is a bit rough with a thick Irish accent. At the beginning of the school yearf, when he'd been home for a while, it can be hard to understand him. Grammar and proper English aren't his best friends but he doesn't sound like an idiot. He curses a lot and he may revert to Gaelic when he's particularly angry.
Blood: Halfblood
Financial Status: Lower Middle class; he get's everything he needs and most of what he wants, though he doesn't want a lot.

Pet(s): A few Connemara ponies at home used for farm work. Seamus used to enter jumping competitions with them when he was younger.

II. Appearance

Seamus has never been the classic tall, dark, and handsome types but finds himself rather good looking and he gets enough attention from the girls to keep him thinking that. He's relatively shorter than most boys his age at just a bit over 5'5", but he's never let his smaller stature stop him. He takes mostly after his father with curly blond hair that he usually only brushes a bit. He also has his father's eyes which are somewhere between green and blue. His skin is relatively pale on its own but since he loves the outdoors it typically not as translucent as it's capable of being.

Seamus has a rather fit body but it takes a bit pf up keep. Seamus jogs a few mornings a week and does sit ups and push ups every night before bed.He's got nice arms and abs, but he wants to work more on his pecs. Seamus isn't as obsessed with his looks as it seems, though. He just knows that since he isn't playing sports, he's got to do something to keep himself in shape. With his stature, if he wasn't fit he'd be scrawny.

As for attire, Seamus's clothing tends to be pretty relaxed. Old jeans with rips in the knees and t-shirts with obscene messages on it (yeah, his mam's not to fond of those) are typical of him. He doesn't have any piercings but he plans on getting his ears done after Hogwarts. He has one tattoo that he got the summer after her cam of age. It reads "misneach" which means "courage." and it is on his right forearm.

III. Personality

The first words that come to mind when describing Seamus Finnigan is fun and outgoing. He's always been the one in high spirits and looking for a party. Actually partying is one of his favorite past times. His Da gives him booze to bring to school every year, though his mother has no idea. Anyway, Seamus is very much a people person. He easily gets along with his fellow Gryffindors and a few others from other houses. He's up for anything when it comes to socializing and loves to have a good time.

Very much the ladies man, Seamus loves flirting with the girls of Hogwarts. When it come to long term relationships, he's had a few of them but he really has to be into the bird to settle down like that. Sex wise, Seamus has been known to have a couple one night stands and while he's not one to kiss and tell he's never been ashamed of it and will tell a few of his mates about it. Still, he believes in respecting girls and would never force himself on one. If he was dating a girl who wanted to wait until she was married, he'd simply revert back to using his hand. He doesn't cheat and once he's in a serious relationship, he's in it for real.

Seamus has a rather bad temper but it takes a lot to get him to that point. Anyone who talks about his family, for example, will find themselves on the wrong end of his wand or with his fist smashing their nose. He's rather stubborn and when he gets into an argument it takes a lot to make him back down. He isn't typically ready to admit when he's wrong and will cling to the remainder of his argument until there is absolutely no chance that it can possibly be right. Although he finds himself in quite a few arguments, he actually hates arguing and would much rather have fun than be angry.

When it comes to schoolwork, Seamus is pretty laid-back. He does just enough to maintain a passing grade and that much is just to please his parents. He enjoys Quidditch more than schoolwork, though he himself was never on the house team. He's more of a spectator than a player. He cheers hard during Gryffindor quidditch matches. His favorite professional team is the Kenmare Kestrals and obviously he cheered until he lost his voice for Ireland when they made it to the Quidditch Cup. Seamus lives for the excitement of watching a good quidditch match.

As for the basic likes and dislikes, Seamus's favorite color is red, his favorite animals are dogs, and his favorite place is home. He hates the color grey, he's not to fond of fish and the potion's class room is his least favorite place in the world. He doesn't like reading so much but every now and then a book will hold his attention long enough for him to enjoy it. He likes flying but he's just as comfortable riding a Connemara pony (which isn't so out of the ordinary back home). His biggest desire is to find true love, but being a guy he'd never readily admit that.

VI. Family

Mother: Ceallach Finnigan nee' O'Sullivan
Relationship: Seamus has always been a mam's boy through and through and though his mother is a bit more protective of her only son than he would like, he still loves her immensly.
Father: Padraic Finnigan
Relationship: Seamus's relationship with his father is more like friends than father and son. His father rarely disciplines him and provides him with the alcohol that he wouldn't be able to have at school otherwise. Seamus also loves his father, but not in the exact same way that h loveshis mother.

Brother(s): Dwayne Finnian Dempsey (30, brother-in-law)
Relationship: At first, Seamus wasn't too fond of Dwayne for the simple fact that he was marrying his sister but he grew on him. He doesn't mind that Seamus changes the natural colours of his son's skin and hair, in fact he usually encourages it, much to Eireann's annoyance.

Sister(s): Eireann Kelly Dempsey nee' Fininigan(27)and Fiona Teagan Finnigan (2).
Relationship: Seamus adores both of his sisters. He spoils Fiona as much as possible and does anything and everything she wants. As for Eireann, he thinks of her as one of his best friends. He may tease her, prank her, and generally annoy her but he still loves her to peices.

Neice(s) and Nephew(s): Doyle Seamus Dempsey
Relationship: Seamus sees it as his duty to make Doyle a man, being his uncle and godfather. So far he's talked his sister into cutting his hair ino a mohawk. During the winter holidays of the 1997-98 school year, he dyed said mohawk lime green and ,with the help of Luna Lovegood, painted him as a lion. His next goal is to get his ear peirced. He spoils him just as much as Fiona.

VIII. Talents/Weaknesses

Musical Ability: Seamus has an average singing voice. His mother tried to get him to play bagpipes when he was young, but he failed rather miserably. His Da taught him the fiddle, though, and he plays at family get togethers sometimes.
Athletic Ability: Seamus is pretty good on a broom and is considering going on to be a broom racer after school. He plays Aingingein during the summers at home. He used to do jumping competitions on his Connemara poinies but since coming to Hogwarts he's had to quit because he doesn't have time to practice. He did a tiny bit of Irish dance when he was younger but he favored his ponies and quit.
Cooking: Not really his thing.
Languages: Irish Gaelic and English, both fluently.
Fighting: He favors the fist-to-face technique but he also knows a few hexes.

Attitude about school: He's not the best student but he's charming to most of the teachers so he doesn't get in as much trouble as he could. He actually likes school, but only for the social aspect. He maintains passing grades so that his mother doesn't send Howlers everday like she threatens

Behavior/Manner at school: Seamus sometimes mouths off but as stated ealier, he can talk himself out of big trouble.

X. History

Glan is a village where the line that separates wizards and muggles is blurred. While there is an even mix of both, the majority of the wizard's are half-bloods and most of the muggles have relatives that are either wizards or married into the wizarding world. In this village unlike many others, Ceallach O'Sullivan was born and grew up. She was on the wizarding side of the village and attended Hogwarts as a Gryffindor. After her seventh year, she still lived at home helping her parents with her younger brothers and sisters. It was around her 18th birthday that a new family of muggles moved into the tiny village, the Finnigans. They, unlike most of the other muggle residences didn't know anything of the magical world. When Ceallach met Padraic, the eldest son of the Finnigans, it was love at first sight. The whirlwind relationship that followed soon produced an unexpected pregnancy and between dealing with surprised family members and rushing to the alter, there was little time for Ceallach to tell Paddy that she was a witch. The truth finally came out on their honeymoon. Padraic was obviously surprised and considered leaving but decided to stay for his unborn child and his love of Ceallach. After cooling off, he realized it wasn't too big of a deal. Eireann Kelly Fininigan was born on October 15th, 1970.

On March 17th, 1980, the second Finnigan child was born. Seamus Fintan was a welcome addition to the family. By the time he was born, his father was finally used to magic and his older sister was 9 and showing no signs of magic so far. By the time Seamus was 3, however, it was obvious that he'd taken after his mother's genes. Whenever he threw tantrums, odd things would happen such as glasses breaking. He'd also sneak off with his mothers wand and set the curtain on fire.

Seamus grew up as a mam's boy for the most part. He loved his father, of course, but he was closer to is mother personality wise. He grew up in a traditional Irish family in the country side. He lived in a stone house. In Glan, the elderly neighbors still spoke Gaelic in their thatched peat farmhouses. His family was Catholic to the tee and went to church every Sunday. When he was old enough Seamus was an alter boy. He was home schooled by his mother rather than sent to he nearest muggle primary due to the fact that he was obviously a wizard and his mother wanted him to grow up as most young wizards did. His sister on the other hand was sent to muggle school so that she too would fit in with her peers.

On Seamus's 11th birthday he received the anticipated owl from Hogwarts. He was extremely eager to learn magic, as he'd heard from the other wizarding children in the neighborhood that Hogwarts was amazing. When he did reach Hogwarts, the sorting hat to nearly a full minute to sort him. It was stuck between Slytherin and Gryffindor, two very different houses. Seamus desperately wanted to be in Gryffindor, knowing that many Slytherin's ended up being Dark Wizards that didn't like muggles. Due to his desire, the sorting hat settled on Gryffindor.

Seamus found his niche in Gryffindor. While he wasn't a member of he golden trio, he became good friends with them and the other Gryffindors and best friends with Dean Thomas. In fourth year, he went to the Yule Ball with Lavender Brown. At the time it was just as friends but as time went on he came to like her as more. Needless to say he wasn't exactly pleased with her being with Ron. But always the ladies' man, Seamus moved on to other girls. The summer before his fifth year, his mother had his younger sister, Fiona and his elder sister had her own son, Doyle. Seamus adores both his little sister and his nephew and spoils them whenever possible. On the first night during fifth year, Seamus had a rather big argument with Harry Potter and the golden trio. Always seeing things his mam's way, he'd believed the Daily Prophet about what happened during the previous year to Cedric Diggory. Eventually he apologized to Harry and even joined Dumbledore's Army. During sixth year he finally stood up to his mother by staying for Dumbledore's funeral, despite the fact that she wanted him to leave.

In general, Seamus only likes school because of the social aspect. If asked what his favorite class was, he'd give you a blank stare for a while before laughing in your face. It's not that he isn't smart, he just isn't very motivated. He's likely to get a job doing something that doesn't necessarily require outstanding marks. Now that he's in his seventh year, he's more interested in passing his NEWT's just to please his mother. He's ready to have more fun in his last year but he's not so eager to go out into the real world.
